what I've been up to...
dear family, just to make sure you don't think I just sit around and watch all the old I love lucy re-runs on TV I thought I should maybe post what I've been up to making lately--the list includes nightgowns,(not pictured) hotpads and Rolls --not in that order and a funny combination--Ha (: but that is just what was on my list of things I wanted to do...actually I give credit to kerri's mom for showing me how to do these hot pads.--I hope you all benifit from all or some of these things--I had fun and had enough to give my co-workers the hot pads & they liked 'em. so hum...next my goals include--working on geneology-family history stories for you kids-sewing a towel with a hoody for little baby kirk that is on the way...shortly and also making a table runner for st. patricks day--I really don't have many St. Patrick's day decorations.
bowling --
awhile back we went bowling with the Kirk family for nancy's big day--and amazingly enough I bowled 145 and dad 155! that is big stuff for us--for starters my first time up I bowled a strike and it stayed good from then on..we joked that in our spare time we've joined the sr. citizen bowling league--it was just a fun night all around and not just because we actually bowled well.
"oh ye mountains high where the clear blue sky...arches over"...
a picture says 1,000 words...
have you all meant the latest and greatest of our lives conviences--we haven't named the snow blower yet--but meet the thing that saves dad's back--right after we got it the snows tapered off but its good to have it for when the storms come next year...this pictured is the storm we had in Feb. I thought a picture said it best--so I blogged it--so you can see all the fun dad is having. ha
coming up on four years..
Hi family,
we're coming up on the four year anniversary of dad serving with Pres Hunter in the stake presidency. Dad is working on his talks feverishly and will speak to the youth I know and again in the general session I think--
remember one of my favorite stories of Pres benson's family --sending the message down the bench when it was Pres Benson's turn to speak-- they said "pray for dad" so I am asking each of you to do the same for our dad and he serves and and he prepares and gives his talks --Conference this year is in Mar -Sat. 21 and Sunday 22nd just so you are aware
also:-just wanted to say it has been a busy and fun part of our lives to work with the people
pictured below: Us (mom and dad ) President Stephen Hunter and Joel pictured by dad
Anne Hunter --LeeAnn Mchenry Mchenry-- by me
The Presidency also works closely with stephen black (not pictured) and his cute wife is tracy (the Blacks came to this dinner a little later and I missed getting them in the pic. ) I am trying to keep a journal for dad about some of the the things that dad's been involved in or has been involved in the past while --while serving so the people below consented to a picture so I could add it to dad's journal. Needless to say --we've learned a lot and have grown in our testimonies. We've made some great friendships and come closer together with each other too.

dad's involvement at the dinner last night
Dear family
We were involved in a ward dinner, for bishop Steadman's ward last night --it was fun Mexican food, lots of good people and then Kelly Cox brought us this huge --bowl of ice cream and some fried toco shells, fried with cinnimon and sugar--he made dad's extra "EXTRA" huge to overflowing just to me funny.
....."then we had a pinata as this was of course a fiesta! so dad's name was called up to be blindfolded and he did great. I took a pic which I will add later--for now use your imagination.
this is how dad explained in his own words (below) to hayley about being called up to hit the pinata it was funny:
"Last night we went to the 28th ward party. Good Mexican food and a pinata. My name got drawn out to take a few swings at it. I was blindfolded and on my knees. I hit it a few times until I swung and didn't hold onto the stick. No one had to go to the hospital so all is well."
have a great Sabbath day. and call if you all get time--.love mom

It was so much fun FEB 16th -(anniversary)

Dear family,
this is the inside of rodizio Grill at Trolley Square that is where dad and I ate after we attended a session of the Provo temple on our (30th anniversary --I just love the sound of that!!) and both outings were so very fun. We really enjoyed the day, the time with each other and the scrumptious food and lots of it!! We are looking forward to many happy times in the next 30.
It was a great way to spend the day.
I love finding new recipes

dear family as you know
I love finding and trying recipes my new favorite book is called from the hearth
this author believes in maintaning your weight--but also still having breads and muffins and enjoying food together--(when she made her own recipes and worked on getting foods from all the food groups fats, dairy, proteins, breads, vegetables, fruits, lots of water) she (Joanna Lund) lost 120 lbs and kept it off. So I have this total respect for her and for her theory in eating the following is a recipe from her book. Part of her take is: also my take of food she says
" warm food from the oven is cozy and comforting, some of our dearest memories ae gathering around the table to eat and most always these gatherings include: bread or baked goods from the oven, trouble is of course that those breads and muffins are usually prepared with sugare and shortning...--so many people try to elimnate these from their diet entirerly, but tht good news is that you do have a choice, in that you can have a great collection of baked goods with flavor yet low in sugar and fat."
...then she shares many of these recipes so I'm sharing one with you--that I tried and liked
sort of reminds me of the book by Jessica Seinfeld in that it has ingredients using healthy stuff
I'll callit my recipe of the week (that sounds like I'm intending to do one every week_)hum..we'll see...

U of U gymist are great
Dear family,
I went with Bryan and Brianne and their family to the U of U Gymnastics meet last night
I loved it. I couldn't have like it better if I was at the olympic gymnastics - I mean these girls are talented!! can't wait to go to another one. I think this is a neat sport. It was also fun hearing the things Mayley and Hunter had to say before we left for the event. I also enjoyed being around Nancy's girls earlier in the week--and having Kaci, dial us up on speed dial on Brad's phone. I love to hear the things the little kids say. I love it when I hear them say funny things in person or when you all share the things they say. You never know what they are going to come up to say or do next next, that is half the fun of being around kids, enjoy the moments

happy anniversary-grandma and grandpa Gertsch
this pic is of me, LaNae , Maeda, Ray some years ago...can you see how kind and loving their faces are? I'm telling ya these were the best parents in the world I hope to be even a part of the people they were. What an influence they had on not only me but so many others in their lives.

Dear family,
today Feb 21, always brings my thoughts around to your grandma & grandpa Gertsch --It would have been their anniversary today and oh they were such marvelous examples. They truly loved, each of you and all of their grandkids and kids. they were patient and kind and full of good works. I just wanted to make a post commenting on the lovely people that they were and express my thoughts of how grateful I am that they had the faith and determination to have 8 children as I am surely thankful to have been born to their family.

The last six people that commented on our anniversary post get a little "thank-you" from me to you...just for fun.
Lucky you!
The last Six
people that responded to my last post about our anniversary-- will get something made by me! My choice.
For you.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make
!2- What I create will be something that is a gift from the heart or homemade
3- It'll be done this year.4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or an article from the Ensign
I may bake you something Who knows? Not you, and as of yet not even me--ha! I'll be surprised as you when I wake up and think up what to do--but when you least expect it there it will be for you --just for being nice enough to take a minute to comment. I took a little different take on this than my challenger for this tag (sarah) --and I just deemed the last six winners after they posted on my blog instead of before I issued the challenge---does that make sense?
bottom line--it was a "test" to see who would comment with no incentive--to comment--(:
those who get my "thank-you" for commenting have no obligation to further the tradition or tag
PS for those of you who didn't comment --that's okay too-cause I mostly think of the blog as a family news letter and just address it as such --with the hopes that my own kids look in on it and it will be the hub of the wheel to keep us united. and everyones linked up to each other. I don't want to ask all you you my kids to post--and not do it myself.
finally: I am actually flattered and highly complimented--plus happily surprised if others look into my blog --just because I consider myself --pretty ordianry-
Yet I really love you just for peeking in on us from time to time to keep in touch--that is what the blog is all about anyway isn't it--staying in touch with each others lives and comings and goings--your prize and my prize is friendship
so here are the six people that should be on the lookout.: rachelle, angie, mogey, nancy, jennifer, lois
