always thrills us to report a new addition to the extended 'family' since I won't be able to give details by 'blog' due to that we're not private--I'll just post this and those whoe know --already know by phone or email--and such but loved the pics --what a perfectly wonderful time to reflect on the blessing of a baby's safe arrival. and our love for him already.........

Happy Birthday Bryan

Twenty nine years ago we had the wonderful blessing of having Bryan join dad and I--and be the first boy in the family. As with all the pregnacies _ went on bedrest. This only lasted for a few months at the start of the pregnancy --then things looked good and he went full term. The only complication was that the ambilical cord had been wrapped around his neck--keeping him from gaining weight but luckily it --didn't strangle him in the womb or in the birthing process. This was the first of many tender blessing of protection that the Lord has given Bryan throughout his life. I was canning a few more lovely peaches and doing one more load of wash, when I went into labor. My sweet neighbor--finished processing the peaches for me so all the work I had put into them wouldn't go to waist, then she went the extra mile and finished the wash (and Ironed it too)--my faith in man kind was restored that day///I mean--people are sooooo so nice and have been to me all my life --we went to the hospital at night--(uncle bruce came to tend nancy so she could stay asleep in her own bed) by morning bryan was born and we were all estatic!!
we were thrilled when bryan weighed in at a 5 lbs 11 oz. -handsome and beautiful olive skin from the get go
-we didn't have very good insurance at the time--Bryan was just starting a new job on the day bryan was born and so he started the day after bryan was born. things have a way of working out and our world was complete and wonderful --even though it was financial tough time in our life--it was One of the six happiest days of our mortal lives---just to remind you--that when you have family and kids--you are RICH!!!!!!!!!!! and how rich bryan has made all of our lives.

here's some things we love about you Bryan
&*you are good at seeing the funny side of life--even today _I had to laugh out loud as I read a text message from you.
*you are good to help dad when you can--and give us ideas how to better the house or our lives
*you are good with numbers, people, animals and the youth of your ward...they really need someone like you to model their lives after--(serving a mission, marrying in the temple--having fun but not by doing bad things) you know what I mean..
*you are good with your kids--patient and understanding--trying help them --but not too much
to where they aren't independant--but just enough that they get the problem resolved.
* you are good with the neices and newphews--taking an interest in them--talking to them
* you are good with the business and work that your company expects of you--you work hard to provide for your family without complaint

third Sunday dinners

its been fun to have a Sunday set for family dinners. This year its been the third Sunday--it gives us a chance to celebrate the family birthdays of that month -here _(pictured) we are celebrating Bryan's 29th by a letting him pull a train of cars for after dinner, time..

Karaoke

Karaoke is what we did for our Relief Society meeting one Tues night in Sept and it was fun. I was at the Nashville table so we call ourselves the "dollies' (for Dolly Pardon) and we sang a song together using Karaoke---we had treats and all in all really enjoyed ourselves--I also sang 'grandma's feather bed" with several of the other grandmothers from the ward. I sang the chorus and cheryl weiss sang the verses.

That is the first time I've done that type of singing,except for when we used to do it in our own front room with the little music tape player and microphones that we had years ago--I loved it and got such a kick out of watching all the other ladies in the ward do it and come out of their shell. What is it about reading the words on the screen and singing along to songs that are familiar that makes you laugh and smile so much? I LOVE MUSIC.

good progress

this little guy is making good progress after his two hour surgery for a g-tube and another proceedure on his esophogus (spelling?) so happy day--he may even be released soon (maybe Thur) anyhow the Lord as always is mindful of him and he is healing well and getting stronger every day--he was tickled to be in his mom's arms and found the most comfort of course there.

he also like grandpa holding his finger and making him laugh, he enjoyed his cousins company playing with him and the hospital toys. Each day gets better. Naps a lot and plays a lot--he got to walk in the hospital halls for fun tonight with grandma so he wouldn't be jeoulous watching his mom eat real food --since he is still being fed through an I-V, for nutrition.

Nancy took a class teaching her what to do at home. so all seems to be going along, and before you know it he'll be home.

a tribute to -Helen Elizabeth Pay Call

Sept 10-1921 -Fri was her birthday and she would have been 89 years old. Reading from the history -and from written memories Helen was approx.
5 ft 4 inch tall she had dark hair and eyes. she was the fourth child born to Phillip and Georgetta Pay. They lived in several homes in SLC and her last residence before marriage was 632 Hollywood Ave.
She was endowed in the temple on Jan 6 1944 and served a full time mission for the church to the Central States mission. Her mission Pres was Thomas C Romney.
After her mission she attended school both at BYU and at the LDS Business college.
She married J Harold Call Dec 2 1946
She is the mother of: (Pic below from left to right)

She attended to her family so wonderfully and cooked good things for them and read them books, attended their basebase games, took them to their grandparents to visit. Made sure they were all spiffed up when they got to grandma's --in Sparks Nev. even if that required stopping at a gas station on the way to change shirts, wash faces, and comb hair after the long drive. She had a great sense of family. Great sense of humor, a Sense of 'can do'. she had a beautiful voice and sang in the Choir called the Corelettes. She was a supportive wife as her husband served as Stake Pres. This is when I (Lynda) first knew of her as I was a member of that stake and I remember hearing about the stake Pres. wife and sons and Carolyn. My parents and grandparents were friends with Bryan's parents. I wish I could remember more first hand but I was only age years old when Helen was taken home to Heaven. I remember standing by my mom as she recieved a phone call telling her of the news and how she hung up the phone and turned to me and told me what had happened the night before In Provo canyon. Little did I know then what an impact that would have in my life personally. I do remember how my family and the families of the valley prayed for Harold and Carolyn and for the family.
More about Helen..... in a history of Helen that Carrie Call collected, the children list memories of their mom. One of Bryan's memories was that Helen read to them where the Red Fern Grows a favorite book of his. He remembers Helen making grape juice in the fall. (which bryan and I do currently in our family as a tie to her). He also remembers her being so loving to him. When all is said and done, isn't that last thing (the love) what its all about. How grateful we are to be in Helen's posterity, and look forward to the time we will get to know her personally. For now it is fun to remember things that others share, if you want to share something--just comment. How grateful we are that she was born Sept 10 those many years ago. Happy Birthday Helen

Lyndsey and chloe call walking at this is the place monument park after the 100 year anniversary party for Grandma and grandpa Pay--
PS the Pay sisters and Doug had a nice party on Sat night 9-11-10 and paid tribute to grandpa (phillip) and grandma (georgetta) who would have been married for 100 years.. so they showed a CD with pics of the early family--and gave a copy to each family--I will try to send that online or make a disc and send to all Bryan's brothers and sisters. and then the newphews and neices can get it from us or from their parents. it was very cool and I think Doug and the aunts paid tripbute so sweetly to their parents. It sounds like grandpa and grandma has a extraordinary loving home to be raised in. With lots of humor and lots of happy and sad times. It sounds like the home was filled with the spirit of the Holy Ghost. It sounds as though the gospel standards were so valued and lived there. In a closing statement that Joanne read quoting grandpa it said how happy he and grandma had been and they just hoped we all lived the gospel --and that we could be in the celestial kingdom together. I hope that too.
