one of my favorites of the summer is going to payson lakes--and spending time together in the mountains. this year we also hiked and that made it a great ending to a great time together.

my sweet friend karri west took me horse back riding--we packed a little lunch just like I did as a kid when I used to ride up snake creek. I really enjoyed myself being in the mountains on horseback. can't wait to do it again.

this past week we got a lot of rain all in one day-dad and I set the sub pump out to help the flooding problem --well to avoid the flooding problem but the rains came so fast we had to bail water out with buckets in addition to the pump

summer brings visitors & vistors bring happiness

Dear family
so glad for the visits from others this summer. So far you kids have popped in and out and come to visit here and there when you can--and of course the third Sunday dinner...in addition we've had:
--Carolyn Bratt came to visit then we got together with others from the Gertsch family at Bonnies for a dessert pot luck. Then also we'll also have had visitors from Carolyn Fuller before the week is over and then we'll have visited with dad's extended family too (in Ogden) and have a dessert bar with them at our place here at the house similar to the pot luck dessert bar/visiting that we had with the other side of the family the week before/ Also if all goes well Allen and Crystal fuller and family will be staying at our house Mon and Tues.. so yeah and hooray for visiting and interacting & catching up.

you'll remember in earlier years going with roger J and his family to Idaho to camp and boat
dad went up there with a group of fathers and boys from the ward. Another camping experience for the summer (we only have a few of those camping experiences, in the year--so we might as well live it up while the sun shines)
so counting up camping for July= of the ones in our family (that I know about:
wk #1=camping with our family (Jordanelle)/brad's family in the campground/bryan's family Tooele/ Jacob family camped in Bryce Canyon and also southern Ut.
WK #2=camping with the youth in Idaho/kirk's with the youth in payson/brad's family/camp host
Extended Call family camping together in Ogden
wk #3=camping with the Murray 16th ward/ brad's family camp host
wk# 4=camping at Payson Lake with the family/ brad's family camping as the host of their camp-

The Garden

Dear family you are welcome to any of the produce from the garden as it comes on--the beets are great right now. we've been eating them a lot and megan helped me pick gobs of them on Sat.
we also planted squash--corn, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, (volenteers from last summer)
and we stuck with those few items cause I wanted lots of corn. so far so good. Remember it says in the Book of Mormon in Alma--to pray over your gardens so we are and we are doing our level best to do our part to care for it as well.

The great salt Lake

*note the clear water *(not a brine fly-and that pic was very near the shore)--quite a contrast as to when we went back on a hot day in July (8th)

how can a person live in Ut and never go out to or past the Great Salt Lake.....??? well for years I only heard about this beautiful lake and only remember going once with my family as a child.
I remember the brine flies --yes but we still had a fun time--so
for the last few years--I've gone out a few times on my own and with others. (For example we went out with the Hebners one twenty-fourth and took the canoe)-- I personally love it out there
its like a free spa. the only draw back if you don't go earlier on in the season--the flies can get bad
so then last spring/summer I'd say about June 1--I go out there and swim...nice high water no flies to speak of much--water is pretty pleasant. So I take some of the grandkids out--trying to recreate my fabulous June experience--it was not to be---there were too many flies but they were good sports--trying to go out with me far enough to get past the flies--but in the end we all just laughed..(so that we didn't cry) In short---to quote leo marvin 'IT WAS A DISASTER FAYE"

in the good ole' summertime

there's a song that says : "in the good ole' summertime' I loved summer time. I love the veggies and flowers and the kids being out of school to come play at our home and with their cousins.

it's been a 'berry' terrific summer

I have a little analogy that I thought of while picking strawberries
it has to do with missionary work and sharing the gospel. Its like this: just when I think I've picked all the "ripe' raspberries--I stoop down and look under the leaves and in the far corners and I find bright-red-juicy--ready to be picked berries--maybe like berries--when the time is ripe and those seeking the truth..are ripe--to be open to hear the good message of the gospel, we'll be there to be instruments in the Lord's hands, if we are looking, from a new perspective and in the most unexpected places. ---every member a missionary--love mom

okay the play on words was sort of on the corny side--but hey its true--!!
with the cooler temperatures and the cooler moisture--well the raspberries have just been huge and plentiful and terrific and made our life happy. We made some bread sticks homemade and jam homemade and really enjoyed them both. We've bottled over 14 bottles of frozen raspberry jam and froze some berries just for milkshakes plus we've just been eating them with milk and plain and mixed in with other fruit. we even tried some peach / raspberry jam frozen of course. As we had some lovely peaches from Sunflower. we (dad and I) have worked together on it. And when the grandkids are here they've helped us pick and pick and pick and so its been a grand summer.

we love and admires so many things in you--just to name a few : *you are fun; you are good to others;, you see the bright side of life; you organize things well ^such as youth conference, you love to learn, you provide well for your family spiritually and financially and lead out, you take time to do your church calling, and lead out in your home for things like FHE. ';you are good to your kids and wife; you are willing to go the extra mile not just in the race you just ran--but in life itself. * you stick to whatever you set out to do and give a hundred percent--such as completing residency--you are true to your word and are an honest and trustworthy person
and a self starter.
