The Release

Elder Tate and Elder Snow were asked to attend our Stake Conference when the release came.  They were so complimentary of the service rendered.  

Elder  Snow asked the Stake Presidency and their wives to meet with he and Elder Tate,  at the Stake Center on the morning of Stake conference. Elder Snow and Elder Tate expressed appreciation for a job well done.  He also recommended to us that we keep the ties of friendship among the Presidency in years to come.

Many folks over the course of the years boosted the spirit of the Presidency with a kind word of appreciation.  Everyone from the children of the primary, to the visiting authorities.  All kindnesses both individual and collectively were wonderful.

I had just moved here recently after the Stake Presidency was called.  I remember very clearly receiving the magnet at Stake Conference.  It still hangs there on our refrigerator reminding us to do the small and simple things.  I hope all the presidency knows how that impacted my family.

It was enjoyable to have LeGrand Curtis of the seventy, visit our Murray Parkway Stake.  He was  our first visiting authority, he was so cheerful and taught us much.

Elder Perry's visit

In Jan of 2010 -Elder Perry selected to visit Murray Parkway Stake, His subject was  Hastening the work.  He attended the 16th ward sacrament meeting and talked about the Articles of Faith.  The last two hours of the block he trained the Priesthood brethren on Hastening the Work.  The stake presidency was then asked to train the other wards on Hastening the Work.

Elder Perry conducted a regional training in the fall of 2012 for Stake Presidency members and Bishops.  He was accompanied by other General Authorities.

Elder Bednar conducted a regional training in the fall of 2010 for Stake Presidency members and Bishops.  He was accompanied by other General Authorities.

Parkway Stake Young Men Sing in General Preistood session

The Aaronic Priesthood boys from our stake, and other Murray stakes sang in the General Priesthood session of Conference in October 2013.  They did a great job.  They filled 350 seats.  We hosted the practices at our stake center.  When they stood to share their testimony through music, many hearts were touched. The  music was outstanding.  As a side note the Hunter family had picked up Elder Christian Hunter from the airport and came straight to the dress rehearsal at the conference center.  Elder Hunter spoke to the boys before they sang.

Seminary Graduation & Seminary dinners

With Spring came the joy of watching the youth of the stake graduate from Seminary. The Graduation was on a Stake basis.  
We had a dinner a few weeks before the graduation honoring the youth that were graduating. Following the dinner all would meet in the chapel to view a CES fireside. The graduation followed few weeks later. 

Philmont

At Philmont Scout Camp, we had a great experience that brought us both a greater understanding of the scouting program and the relationship with the Priesthood.  We strengthened our testimonies in the process.

The Women at Philmont enjoyed each others company so much we got together at the Lion House a few months later.  We also visited Temple Square afterwards to listen to an organ concert and to view some of the beauty of Temple Square.

Tuesday

 Temple Recommend interviews were held Tuesday nights beginning at 6:00 PM Dorthy Sutherland faithfully welcomed members as they came for temple interviews. The Presidency was faithfully there in their offices to meet with the members

Ward conferences & Temple sessions

The first year The Stake Presidency served we  attended a ward social on Saturday night before the Ward conference to become better familiar with the members of the wards.  We usually had a type of refreshment or dinner with the adults.  In years that followed instead of a social we went to the temple with each ward in connection with ward conference.

Missionary farewells and homecomings

The Stake Presidency always tried to make it a point to have at least one member of the Stake Presidency in attendance to the Sacrament Meeting of an Elder or Sister from our Stake that was entering the mission field or returning home from the mission field.
President Hunter had the opportunity to meet with the missionaries in preparation for their leaving and interviewing them regularly. He was able to send his own sons into the mission field.  He set apart many Elders and sisters for the mission field.

Youth

Many of our activities centered around the youth.  Stake youth conferences, youth firesides, stake girls camps, stake activities, dances, Oakcrest camp.
Activities included going to Camp Williams, Mountain Dell, Murray Park, Park City, Heber Valley Camp.
