Tough Mama

Hi everyone! It is Nancy here. I am posting for mom since her hands are out of commission. I wanted to let everyone know how great mom is doing, but also wow what a surgery. Remember this is the first time the doctor has done the surgery on two hands at once and you can see why. They found the unhealthy tissue, like they thought they would. So from that stand point it was a huge success, but now she just has to recover. Here are few pictures to let you see what recovery looks like and oh, do you like what my girls think the arm things are for? We love you mom! Hope you feel better soon!

Tennis anyone? Fortunately/Unfortunately

Hello family--
Playing tennis isn't how I got "tennis elbow" although incidently I do love to play tennis

nevertheless some unfortunate people like me get "tendonitis" in their elbows. I truly can't pinpoint how I got it? --I just did --it can even be inherited they say or certain activities.

Unfortunately I got it! The pain drags me down (and has done for over two years)


Fortunately--the Dr. said the pain could be lessened with cortizone shots---boy did they help!!


Unfotunately- The relief of the shots wears off in about 2 months--then I'm back in pain.


Fortunately- 85% of the people who have surgery on their elbows have permanant relief of pain.


Unfortunately- 15% of the people who have surgery on their elbows say they wouldn't do that again.


Fortunately-- I get to try the surgery tomorrow Mar 26th to see if I can be one of the 85%.


Unfortunately- I'll only have a short time to get this done so I am doing both arms at once.


Fortunately--Bryan is wonderful and will help me through this while I am on the mend.


Unfortunately- Dr (Dan Hammon) said this is the first time he has ever done 2 elbows at once.


Fortunately- He also said that he would splint one arm & put one in a sling.


Fotutunately- Last but not least they are going to put cortizone in my wrists for carpel tunnel.

So bottom line -happy day!! Please remember me in your prayers that hings will all work out ;and maybe after Wed I won't be such a grump! We can only hope. I am actually excited to see if I can have some relief that lasts. but a little scared--it's worth a try :) I won't be blogging for a while but I'll be reading yours and thinking about you guys. Love mom

I like to do "flashbacks" on my blog on peoples birthdays the day Mayley was born was so wonderful --so glad Heavenly Father sent you to such a wonderful mom and dad and that you are part of our extended family. What a joy you have brought to everyone that is around you. --I will always remember that happy day you arrived.

WHAT A CUTIE !!!!
Upper most on my list of favorite days is "birth"-day's both the inital birth--and all the birthdays following --Brianne and Bryan went to so much effort to make the day so special for Mayley and everyone who came to celebrate with her. We had a ball --Brianne and I were talking how it is soooooo much fun but how it takes lots of energy (for the parents) to celebrate and prepare for the FUN!
but we do it for the love of the birthday and mostly for the love of one we are celebrating...cause they are so special to us. (am I making sense?) well anyhow we played games and ate and put pictures in order of Mayley's birth to her age 2 and sang and blew out candles and if was fun fun fun.. we love you Mayley these are pictures of her big day

We're going Campin'

horray for "match day" for Stephen (and all medical students around the country)

dad and I are both soooooooo happy that the Match day for residency was yesterday

we are so happy that Stephen did everything to make it possible for him to be matched in Provo.

he was great in his field academically' but also he must have impressed the staff somewhat--being so likeable and personable while he worked in the rotation in Provo this summer. all good qualities.

We are extremely impressed with the hard work he has done to prepare himself for this part of his career. I know I can't fully appreciate what it takes to get to this point. Way to Go!

I thought I was hilarious-

I teased him by giving him a box of "chocolate" teddy grams and writing on the box-- you'll be more "chocolate" (cake) for you! He laughed...but its true! and that is why we are so happy (:

can I just say-- I'm so glad we're family, and glad their family will be closer than Iowa. That was too far away for me. welcome back to Ut.

I still enjoy making signs if anyone needs one..

Stake Conference

Hello just reporting
that Stake Conference was a joy to attend. We were blessed to have Elder Ballard, Elder Huntsman (of the 70) and Elder Wirthlin and his son Joe Junior and also the SLC mission Pres.
in attendance to the Sunday morning session. The talks from both Sat. and Sun Session were ones that I want to remember for a long time. I was very happy about the things dad talked about and felt that they are life lessons he has learned through the years, that he lives by.

Brother Joel McHenry was called as the 2nd councilor in the stake Presidency--He is a great leader and will do a fabulous job. Very down to earth, very kind. His wife is Lea ann
and they are both dear people. Looking forward to associating with them.

We've had such a great friendship with Daryl and Nanci Nancolis how loved they will be in Mexico. He is a natual Leader. Able to go in and just do what needs done. They have both become dear to us and we loved their humor and kindness and example of how a couple should treat each other. They are just a powerful team. we'll sure miss the pleasure of their company.

I have 2 "best parts" of the month....

Dear Family -- remember when we used to share best parts and "worst parts"?
Well....
I have two "Best parts" to share for this blog
I was just laying in bed this morning thinking
my 1st best part: how much fun It was very fun to have Mayley, Hunter, Megan, Anna and Abbie -- James and Megan Fuller and Brianne, Bryan, Nancy and Stephan all here at the house to have an Easter egg hunt .
We love it when lots of you are here together--I think instead of outside I like having it( around the ping pong table)
dad & I felt young again hiding the egges and in every spot we could find to hide the plastic eggs and jelly beans- dad helped me fill the eggs while we watched a movie together
-the kids (and you parents) had good eyes for finding them and we made it pretty easy this year..we hope its a tradition we can do every year. *& and put $ bigger money more than pennies in the eggs as the grandkids get older (like $1's and 5's don't get too excited--I want to be like the neighbors and put 1 egg with 100 dollars but don't I don't see that happening until I win the reader's digest sweep stakes..(:
The 2nd best part was when :
We also started the tradition (before the dinner time-sorry you were all so hungry next time I think we'll do it after dinner)
-to have the short devotional. I love to read from the scriptures about Easter when you are all there with us. I love to look at pictures (of the artist idea) of what it may have looked like as Jesus appeared to Mary. I loved when We talked a little of the sypbolism of the sacrament and other things that can remind of us this wonderful
Easter morning so long ago.
I hoping that( like the Christmas nativity)--that if we do that each year; by the time the grandkids are grown they will have a strong testimony (and feeling what Easter is really about) and the sacrifice of our Savior--much like they do remembering the savior' birth I appreciate all you parents of the kids for being so good to have the devotional with me that day. I know that you do it by yourself as parents anyway--but it is good for dad and I to have someone to share our testimony of these things with too.

spring is in the air....just around the corner

since about Feb I've been saying "hold on spring is just around the corner" --
I love when spring comes and we can be outdoors and playing in the sunshine--it makes it even more fun to have the grandkids come by and play outside too. Yesterday I dug around in the flower beds and got all the old leaves and such out..it was so fun to feel spirng in the air...

spring is coming--the tramp is all set up
