latest hike (#3) if we're counting

loving the smell of all those pines--it wasn't too hot or too cool-just the most perfect hiking weather

that white stuff behind my head is water--that's where we stopped for lunch
snow in june? yup this is hard to tell in the close up--but we had patches of snow on the hike

quaint dining huh?

dad pondering about throwing a snowball at me

smithmore house trail head sign

I seem to be counting each hike--with these blog post titles--we do work by the way--dad mon -thurs and I will start teaching summer reading at the school Tues--thru Thurs starting this week--we hiked two different little trails--one I don't know the name the other one called smith morrehouse trail

both fairly easy trail (good for old folks like us) this week enclosed are a few pic of trail head sign and on the other one a pic and view of river below--you have to look hard through the trees for the river but its there...anyhow it was fun then we had a bowl of soup in a historic coach of an old train--the eating place was called road island--and it was quaint--and sort of like eating a huku lau (sp?) in Hawaii--like it was all full of personality--

funny thought -the best is yet to come

--The Best is yet to come--this is kind of a fun way to think about life's events--I heard this thought at a RS gathering last night--and took a little different take on it from how it was presented--but here is the main idea--the way I see it
when you go to a dinner--say a family or casual dinner--even a church dinner the folks gathering your plate may say 'YOU CAN KEEP' your fork--then that should make you happy--because you know there is more--and probably the best is yet to come--probably some delicious desert
well I just feel like keeping a fork in my hand at all times--cause with all of you active and involved --busy folks in the family--there is always something new and upcoming--around the corner--so I thought maybe we can add that to our list of stuff (like chocolate cake-puppets and trampoline pictures--we could add "FORKS' as a reminder that the best is yet to come) just a thought--keep up the good that you all do--(and keep the faith.--then certainly the best is yet to come-with each passing year)

kudos--TO ALL OF YOU FOR ALL YOU DO--

kudos (what that means exactly I am not sure) but in other words "way to go everyone "
AS SUMMER ARRIVES AND we've reached some new platues-
-*school programs--*dance festivals--*teaching your kids * working at your jobs--*school classes/***especially the last of college classes--all the sports --specifically gymastics-dancing in our front rooms--and soccer to name a few
missionary work--cleaning--cooking --or for eating the cooking --or for just BEING THE SUPPORTER--and cheerleading --audience whether cheering in person or in spirit.
FOLKS (each other) IN THE many -many ACTIVITies we all involve ourselves in--(like I said pictured or not) --you are all wonderful --in our eyes..
one of two pic CAPTURES THE SUPPORTER BEST --I went to our families events (most) and some of the neighbor girls --programs and Eden call's too--(if you wonder about one of the pic)
just ALL THAT YOU DO-
CAN'T wait to get together and hang around and relax--at some point--and that will be our form or celebrating and giving you congrats on a more personal note--you must know we are proud of you all-- side note:
I ommited names here as I don't like to post names --but since I use this as a family news letter--per say--names aren't really necessary anyway--so way to go everyone on everything even if your pic isn't on this post--dad and I love ya for all ya do------ KUDOS to all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We found a cabo verdian family. I am so excited about them please please pray that something works out with them. They are great

letter excerpt:
Hey!
"Well i got some interesting stories. This week was filled with wacko things so i hope you enjoy my stories.
Okay well first of all i got hit by another old lady. We were looking for a less active and i was asking a lady for information and she wacked my hand and didnt answer my question. I dont know whats happening with me and old ladies. Dad you wanted more details from the first one but basically i was in her way (when we were both looking at the Catholic Pope) and she hit me with a magazine nothing too special.
Second story we are knocking doors and we find this old lady who starts telling us her health problems i will spare you the details cause let me tell you it was TMI, so to change the subject and start talkin about the gospel i asked her name. She told me it all (people have like 5 or 6 names here) So i said oh what a mouth full. And she goes my mouth isnt full my dentures just fall out sometimes laughed my head off."......

she went on to tell more of the work and pday and other things happening this is just a glimps into the life of Irma Call--she is well and happy--we are so happy that she is happy

second hike - perfect day (almost)

* the hill we hiked was small
*salt on the sand by my whilte shoe
*stricking a pose out in the water of the lake--the water was warm--

dad on hill above the jetti (look to the water edge to see small spiral)
the part the goofed up our "almost perfect day"

was hitting a rock and getting a flat tire--dad is my hero--he got us out of the mess

oops -flat tire due to hitting a rock probably

this is a pic taken from up on the moutain side we hiked up --neat huh? its a man made rock roadway out in the middl of the sand in the great salt lake (up on one of the odgen accesses to the lake ) the picture doesn't do it justice, it was neat!

"you can borrow my slicker"! it started to sprinkle a little and I had the slicker with me --so why not use it? (at least while I watched dad change the tire and the wind came up) burrrrrrrrrrr.............(okay --dorkey--but I couldn't resist) (:

this video is short (25seconds) and shows panarama of the view

first hike (of the season)

this point of the mountain is what we thought looked like a party hat--that we diverted off to see the top--where we had the good view

this is a historic kiln (3 kilns) where the pioneers fired lime rock to use in soaps an food and other materials for building--(interesting) we thought

(notice the crazy hats)
we took a great hike fri--trail head started up by the university of ut. we went out of the way of the main trail to hike the little hill that we thought looked like a little party hat--we got a great view of the entire Salt Lake valley--(sorry no pic--but movie clip enclosed ) of the panarama as we did not think a still shot could do it justice..anyway t'was a great warm up hike and tough enough for us--the weather was great not to hot --not too cold--so a good time was had by all

where have all the flowers gone?

There's an old song ( by peter , paul and mary I think) I like to sing to the grandkids--where have all the flowers gone--....(long time passing)

lately we're imbetween --the bright tulips--and waiting for the penuins to blossom out--and the merrigold seeds to spring up--but give 'em time they are coming and will last well into the fall. so earlier in the year--I was pretty lient about letting the grandkids--pick the daffodils--for some reason --kids love to pick flowers and give them to people--I took my own challenge and did door bell ditch flowers (with the grandkids help) on may first and we laughed all the way

so here's to beautiful spring flowers...just went to the temple last night (sat) and oh--wow! now those are the ultimate beautiful flower combos --love, love , loved them

dad and I are going to a ut state flower surplus sale and get one more flat of flowers--but then were going to "hold it down" this year--but next year I will have separated out so many daffodil bulbs and re-planted them in the back yard --that the kids can pick as many flowers as their little heart desires--in the meantime--tonight Hunter just picked Iris flower leaves and put them in the red wagon with water and called them fishes--flowers are so versitle --don't you think? I know I love them--and now the lilics are on and they smell--good--even if they make me sneeze--still its worth it to me to have them--as they remind me of my mom who always loved lilics (lilocks spelling?) - so if I love flowers "dear mother I learn to love them from you"
