what is cool about this is you seal the colors in by painting a layer of clear wood shelac varnish
over the finished product. the shine really brightens and brings out the colors

..I love to teach children to express themselves with their own artwork.
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." Pablo Picasso
I've had some fun doing random art this summer and I love it when the grandkids were here during the time of hayley and joes wedding to draw some pictures with me AND to paint some butterflies pics with me..they are displayed along with other of their creations on the closet door in dad's office...I've now started a binder to keep these art treasures in--as there is only so much room on the closet doors but I love them all.
my and the grandkids art since spring has included : painting rocks at the lake, and chalk on the sidewalk, and some oils that you can mix with water (instead of the traditional linseed oil)....then we also painted around leaves onto a paper, and I think some of the grand kids are entering their own work in their county fair--(maybe I should too/)
I got really excited about painting again--when a cousin jamie morton told me about a retreat she went to in Washington state . She taught me some tricks.. then I was looking at the cute apple tree kerri Call (brad's Kerri) painted that is in our basement.. then I saw my sister carrie call keith's carrie helped me paint a little greeting card, then my friend kerri west gave me one of her drawings with a little calligraphy saying and a small pic she drew at the bottom, then, I Talked with a cousin Ann who teaches art in her front room and has little artist gallery at the end of the art sessions....and lastly I Went to the carl bloch art display...and all combine...it just makes me want to paint and draw and doodle, doodle, doodle and sketch.. there is no right or wrong...in art--its aLL GOOD, because its aLL just a different expressions by different souls. my neighbors in kalia cove have a chalk drawing (sidewalks) every 24th of july and its great to see their impressive creations of this media and this also has been an inspiration to me of late
